Hidetada Yamagishi was born on june 30, 1973, in Japan. He began bodybuilding at the age of 16, and quickly rose through the ranks of the competitive bodybuilding scene. In 1999, he won the Mr. Japan title, and in 2001, he won the Mr. Asia title. He competed in the Mr. Olympia competition in 2002, and placed 12th.

Yamagishi’s bodybuilding career was cut short in 2003, when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He underwent surgery and chemotherapy, and was eventually able to overcome the cancer. He returned to bodybuilding in 2005, and has competed in several competitions since then.
