Juan Marquez was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 21, 1973. He began bodybuilding at the age of 16, and quickly made a name for himself in the sport. In 1994, he won the Mr. Mexico title, and in 1995, he placed second in the Mr. Universe competition.

Marquez’s success in bodybuilding continued throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. He won the Mr. Olympia title in 2002, and he held the title for three consecutive years. He also won the Arnold Classic in 2003 and 2004.
