Ketchens is the son of Rod Ketchens Sr., a professional football player, and Sylvia Ketchens, a homemaker. He has two sisters, Rhonda and Ramona. Ketchens married his wife, Lisa, in 1990. They have two children, a son named Rod III and a daughter named Sydney.
