In 1983, Meshkat moved to the United States to pursue his bodybuilding career. In 1987, he turned professional and competed in the Mr. Olympia contest, where he placed 15th.

Meshkat’s bodybuilding career was cut short in 1988 when he suffered a serious knee injury. However, he continued to train and compete in powerlifting, winning several national and international titles.
