Steve Reeves was born on January 21, 1926, in Glasgow, Montana. He began weightlifting at the age of 17 and quickly developed a muscular physique. In 1946, he won the Mr. America title, and in 1950, he won the Mr. Universe title. Reeves’s bodybuilding career was cut short in 1951 when he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. After serving two years in the Army, Reeves returned to bodybuilding and won the Mr. Universe title again in 1955.

In 1957, Reeves began his acting career with a role in the film Hercules. He went on to star in a number of other films, including Hercules Unchained (1959), Hercules and the Tyrants of Babylon (1964), and Goliath and the Dragon (1966). Reeves also starred in a number of popular television shows, including The Steve Reeves Show (1961-1962) and The Adventures of Hercules (1964-1965).

Reeves was married to Aline Czartoryski from 1948 to 1950. He then married Sandra Smith in 1955. Reeves and Smith had two children, a son named Scott and a daughter named Tracy.
