Richard Baldwin was born on August 2, 1960, in Orange, New Jersey. He began lifting weights at the age of 14 and quickly developed a passion for bodybuilding. In 1983, he won the Teenage Mr. America title, and in 1985, he won the Mr. America title. Baldwin went on to compete in the Mr. Olympia competition several times, placing as high as 6th in 1990.
