In 1995, he won the NPC Junior Nationals, which earned him his IFBB pro card. McCarver went on to compete in numerous IFBB competitions, including the Mr. Olympia, where he placed in the top 10 several times.

McCarver was known for his impressive physique, which featured a massive chest, wide shoulders, and a narrow waist. He was also known for his intense training regimen and his dedication to the sport. McCarver was a role model for many aspiring bodybuilders and was respected by his peers.
