Bill Kazmaier Then
Bill Kazmaier was born on December 30, 1953, in Burlington, Wisconsin, USA. He began weightlifting in high school and quickly became one of the strongest teenagers in the country. After graduating from high school, Kazmaier attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he continued to excel in weightlifting. In 1981, he won the NCAA Division I national championship in the heavyweight class.
After graduating from college, Kazmaier turned professional and began competing in powerlifting and strongman competitions. He quickly became one of the most dominant strongmen in the world, winning the World’s Strongest Man competition three times (1980, 1981, and 1982) and the Arnold Classic four times (1981, 1983, 1985, and 1986).
Kazmaier retired from professional strongman competition in 1987. He has since worked as a motivational speaker and personal trainer. Kazmaier is also the founder of the Kazmaier Classic, an annual strongman competition held in Wisconsin.
