Sergei Shelestov, born on May 25, 1971, in the village of Talovaya, Voronezh Oblast, Russian SSR, was introduced to the world of sports at a young age.
His upbringing in a family where his father worked as a railroad engineer and his mother as a schoolteacher instilled in him values of discipline and dedication.
It was during his school years that Shelestov discovered his passion for sports, initially through soccer and wrestling.
As Shelestov progressed through high school, his focus shifted toward athletics, and he found himself spending more time in the gym.

Sergei Shelestov’s journey into bodybuilding began during his military service when he competed in a local championship and secured an honorable place, sparking his realization that bodybuilding was his true passion.
After rising to the rank of captain in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, he retired from the service in 1996 to pursue his passion further.
Upon moving to Moscow with his wife Irina, Shelestov connected with renowned coach Mikhail Golovnev, who became his mentor and guide in the world of bodybuilding.
Despite transitioning through various jobs, including working as a personal trainer, Shelestov remained committed to his training regimen.
His breakthrough came in 1998 when he won the Cup of Russia and the World Amateur Bodybuilding Championship, solidifying his status as a rising star in the bodybuilding world.
This success continued as he claimed the title of absolute champion of Russia later that year.
In 2001, Shelestov earned his Pro Card and ventured into professional bodybuilding, competing in tournaments such as the Grand Prix in England and the Grand Prix in Romania.
Despite facing challenges and a lull in his career, he persevered, maintaining his dedication to training.
A resurgence occurred in 2006 when Shelestov regained his Pro Card and resumed competing in professional tournaments.
His participation in prestigious events like the Arnold Classic, Mr. Olympia, and Ironman Pro in 2007 further solidified his presence in the professional bodybuilding circuit.
Although his rankings fluctuated over the years, Shelestov’s dedication to the sport remained unwavering, culminating in notable achievements such as an 8th-place finish in the Arnold Classic and a respectable standing in the IFBB Men’s Bodybuilding Professional Ranking in 2009.
Throughout his career, Shelestov’s perseverance and passion for bodybuilding inspired many aspiring athletes in Russia and beyond.
