Phil Williams Then
Phil Williams was born on March 16, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio. He began lifting weights at the age of 15, and by the age of 20, he had won the Mr. Teenage America title. In 1976, he won the Mr. America title, and in 1978, he won the Mr. Universe title. In 1982, he won the Mr. Olympia title, becoming the first man to win all three of these major bodybuilding titles.
Williams was known for his massive chest and arms, and his powerful back and legs. He was also a gifted powerlifter and strongman, and he set several world records in these sports. In 1984, he retired from bodybuilding to focus on powerlifting and strongman.
Williams is married to Mary Ann and they have two children. He currently lives in Florida, where he owns a gym and works as a personal trainer.
