Jim Arrington Then
Jim Arrington was born on June 21, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. He began lifting weights at the age of 16, and quickly developed a passion for bodybuilding. Arrington won his first bodybuilding competition in 1981, and went on to win numerous other titles throughout his career, including the Mr. Olympia title in 1985.
Arrington’s bodybuilding career was cut short in 1987, when he was diagnosed with a rare muscle disease called polymyositis. The disease forced him to retire from bodybuilding, but he remained active in the sport as a coach and commentator.
Arrington is married to his wife, Debbie, and they have two children. He currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
