Emmett Shear’s entrepreneurial journey began with his involvement in Y Combinator, a prestigious startup accelerator, where he and co-founder Justin Kan were part of the first class in 2005. 

During this time, they developed Kiko, a calendar application that gained traction but ultimately fell victim to the competitive landscape when Google Calendar was launched.
