Steven John Carell, born on August 16, 1962, in Concord, Massachusetts, is a renowned American actor, comedian, and writer.

The youngest of four sons born to Edwin and Harriet Carell, Steve’s father changed the family surname from Caroselli to Carell before Steve’s birth, reflecting their Italian roots. 

Carell’s early education took place at The Fenn School, an all-boys private institution in Concord, followed by Middlesex School, after which he ventured to Ohio to attend Denison University. 

Initially, on a pre-law track, Carell’s passion for sketch comedy flourished during his university years, leading him to join Burpee’s Seedy Theatrical Company, the oldest collegiate improv group in the United States.

After graduating from Denison University in 1984, Carell moved to Chicago, where he joined the prestigious improvisational troupe Second City in 1989.
