Joe Spinello Then
Joe Spinello was born on September 19, 1937, in New York City. He began bodybuilding in his early 20s and quickly became one of the most respected bodybuilders in the world. In 1965, he won the Mr. America title, and in 1966, he won the Mr. Universe title.
Spinello’s bodybuilding career was cut short in 1967 when he was diagnosed with a heart condition. He was forced to retire from competitive bodybuilding, but he continued to train and stay in shape.
In addition to his bodybuilding career, Spinello also had a successful acting career. He appeared in over 50 films and television shows, including Rocky, Raging Bull, and King of New York.
Spinello was married twice and had three children. He died on January 3, 2019, at the age of 81.
