Joe DeAngelis Then
Joe DeAngelis was born on August 18, 1965, in Brooklyn, New York. He began lifting weights at the age of 13, and by the time he was 18, he had already won several local bodybuilding competitions. In 1985, he won the NPC Teenage Nationals, and in 1986, he won the NPC Junior Nationals. In 1987, he turned pro and began competing in the IFBB.
DeAngelis quickly rose through the ranks of the IFBB, and in 1989, he won the IFBB Night of Champions. He also won the IFBB Grand Prix Italy in 1990 and the IFBB Grand Prix Germany in 1991. In 1992, he placed second at the IFBB Mr. Olympia, and in 1993, he placed third.
DeAngelis retired from bodybuilding in 1996, but he has remained active in the sport as a trainer and promoter. He has also appeared in several bodybuilding magazines and videos.
