In 1893, he won the first Mr. Universe competition, which was held in London. Sandow continued to compete in weightlifting competitions throughout his life and won numerous titles. He is considered one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time.

Life History
Sandow was married twice. His first wife was Blanche Brooke, whom he married in 1894. They had one child together, a daughter named Eugenie. Sandow’s second wife was Kate Sandow, whom he married in 1903. They had two children together, a son named Eugene and a daughter named Katherine. Sandow died on October 14, 1925, at the age of 58. He was buried in Kensal Green Cemetery in London.
