Adam Joseph Copeland, better known as Edge, was born on October 30, 1973, in Orangeville, Ontario. 

Raised by a single mother who worked tirelessly at two jobs to support them, Edge grew up in a challenging environment but was always inspired by the resilience and dedication of his mother. 

Despite never meeting his father or seeing a picture of him, Edge found solace and direction in his passion for professional wrestling.

From a young age, Edge was captivated by the world of wrestling. He idolized legendary wrestlers such as Curt Hennig, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, and Bret “Hit Man” Hart. 

Their performances ignited a fire within him, and he became determined to follow in their footsteps. 

To pursue his dream, Edge initially trained under the guidance of seasoned professionals Ron Hutchinson and Sweet Daddy Siki. 

However, financial pressures and a desire to support his mother led him to put his wrestling ambitions on hold.

To contribute to his family’s well-being, Edge took on various jobs, demonstrating his commitment to both his family and his own future. 

He also pursued education, earning a diploma in radio broadcasting from Humber College. 

Once he had managed to stabilize his situation, he returned to his wrestling training with renewed focus and determination, eventually making a name for himself in the industry and fulfilling his childhood dream.

Edge Wrestling Career

In the 1990s, Edge began his professional wrestling career, primarily competing in various North American independent promotions. 

During this period, he participated in both singles and tag team matches, often teaming with his storyline brother, Christian. 

This partnership proved to be a significant part of his early career, setting the stage for future successes.

In 1997, Edge’s journey took a pivotal turn when he signed a developmental deal with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which would later become WWE.

He made his official debut with the company later that year under the ring name Edge. 

His presence was quickly established, and by June 1999, he achieved his first major milestone by winning the WWF Intercontinental Championship at a house show in Toronto. 

This victory marked the beginning of his impressive title run with the company.

Edge’s career continued to flourish as he became known for his accomplishments both as a singles competitor and as part of a tag team.

Alongside Christian, Edge captured the WWF Tag Team Championship an impressive seven times. 

His success extended beyond tag team wrestling, as he went on to win a total of 31 championships in WWE. 

This includes 11 world championships, 5 Intercontinental Championships, 14 world tag team championships, and a United States Championship. 

Notably, Edge also won the 2001 King of the Ring tournament and became the first wrestler to secure the Money in the Bank contract in both 2005 and 2007.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport, Edge was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in March 2012.

Edge Wife and Children

In 2001, Edge married Alannah Morley, who is the sister of fellow wrestler Val Venis. Their marriage, however, was short-lived, and the couple divorced in 2004. Shortly after his divorce, Edge married Lisa Ortiz in October 2004. 

Despite the new beginning, his personal life faced challenges as he began an affair with fellow wrestler Lita. 

This affair led to significant personal and professional upheaval, and Edge and Ortiz subsequently divorced in November 2005.

Following these events, Edge found a new chapter in his life with wrestler Beth Phoenix. 

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Lyric, in December 2013, and their second daughter, Ruby, in May 2016.
