Dave Draper was born on April 16, 1942, in Rahway, New Jersey. He began lifting weights at the age of 13 and quickly developed a passion for bodybuilding. Draper won his first bodybuilding competition at the age of 16 and went on to win the Mr. America title three times (1965, 1966, and 1967) and the Mr. Universe title once (1966). Draper retired from competitive bodybuilding in 1970 and began a successful career as an actor and author.
Draper’s acting career includes roles in the films “Pumping Iron” (1977), “The Towering Inferno” (1974), and “Conan the Barbarian” (1982). He has also appeared in several television shows, including “The Six Million Dollar Man” (1973) and “The Incredible Hulk” (1978).
Draper is also the author of several books on bodybuilding, including “Dave Draper’s Bodybuilding Bible” (1970) and “Dave Draper’s Advanced Bodybuilding” (1973). He is considered one of the pioneers of modern bodybuilding and his training methods and philosophy continue to be used by bodybuilders today.
