Adam Brody was born in 1979 in San Diego, California, to Jewish parents who originally hailed from Detroit, Michigan. 

His mother, Valerie, worked as a graphic artist, while his father, Mark, was an attorney. Brody’s family also includes his younger twin brothers, Matthew and Sean, who were born in 1985. 

Growing up in the suburbs of San Diego, Brody had a typical Southern Californian childhood, marked by his schooling at Wangenheim Middle School and later Scripps Ranch High School.

During his school years, Brody was not particularly focused on academics, often earning poor grades. 

Despite his lackluster academic performance, he harbored a growing interest in the arts and entertainment.

In 1999, Adam Brody made his film debut with a minor role in “Random Acts of Violence.” His first television appearance was in an episode of Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show.” 

After a year of training and auditioning, Brody landed the leading role of Barry Williams in the 2000 made-for-television movie “Growing Up Brady,” which detailed the production of the iconic ABC sitcom “The Brady Bunch.” 

That same year, he appeared in various television series, including the sitcoms “City Guys” and “Go Fish,” the legal dramas “Family Law” and “Judging Amy,” and MTV’s anthology series “Undressed.”

Brody’s career gained momentum in 2002 with a leading role in the sitcom “The Sausage Factory,” which initially aired in Canada before being broadcast on MTV in the US.

In addition to his film work, Brody ventured into voice acting in 2011 with the adult animated sitcom “Good Vibes” on MTV, which lasted for one season. 

2013 was a busy year for him on television, with appearances on the sketch comedy “Kroll Show,” recurring roles on the sitcom “The League,” and the Showtime comedy “House of Lies,” where he played the CEO of a sex toy company. 

He also featured in 10 episodes of “Burning Love,” a parody of reality dating competition shows.

Brody also had recurring roles on the ABC sitcom “Single Parents” and the dystopian action series “Curfew.”

Beyond acting, Brody is an accomplished musician. He is the lead drummer of the indie band Big Japan, which he cofounded in 2005 with Brad Babinski, Nathaniel Castro, and Bret Harrison. 

The band’s debut release, “Music for Dummies,” came out that same year, and they performed at various festivals and venues until 2007.

In 2010, Brody began playing drums for another band, The Shortcoats, and released their first EP, “This Time Last Year,” in 2011.
