Andrew McLean Galloway IV, widely recognized by his ring name Drew McIntyre, was born on June 6, 1985, in Ayr, Scotland. 

Growing up in nearby Prestwick, he initially pursued a career in football, playing as a defender for the youth club Prestwick Boys. 

Despite his passion for sports, a significant turning point in his early life came when he discovered a magazine called X Factor, which focused on conspiracy theories and ghost stories. 

Intrigued by the content, McIntyre wrote a letter to the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act, prompting a response that included various documents. 

This early fascination with the unusual and the investigative foreshadowed his later pursuit of a different kind of public engagement.

McIntyre’s childhood interest in professional wrestling became a defining aspect of his life. 

At the age of 15, he began training in wrestling, showing a strong commitment to the sport from an early age.

Drew McIntyre Wrestling Career

Andrew McLean Galloway IV, known professionally as Drew McIntyre, began his wrestling career in earnest at the Frontier Wrestling Alliance’s Academy when he was just 15 years old. 

His family had moved to England, settling in Portsmouth, where he pursued this new passion with determination. 

Trained by Mark Sloan, Justin Richards, and James Tighe, McIntyre also benefited from the guidance of experienced wrestlers such as Doug Williams, Paul Burchill, and Alex Shane. 

This early exposure to the craft laid a solid foundation for his future success.

In 2003, McIntyre made his debut with British Championship Wrestling (BCW) in the Greater Glasgow area. 

Initially wrestling under the character “Thee” Drew Galloway, he quickly made a name for himself despite a loss in his first match against Stu Natt. 

He soon earned his first victory in a tag team match alongside Wolfgang. 

His early career was marked by significant milestones, including his management by Charles Boddington, which propelled him towards greater achievements.

Galloway’s matches against American veterans, including The Honky Tonk Man and Marty Jannetty, further solidified his reputation.

McIntyre’s career saw a significant breakthrough in November 2006 when he captured the BCW Heavyweight Championship, a title he held throughout 2007.

However, as he prepared for a new chapter, he vacated the title upon relocating to the United States in September 2007.

Upon moving to the U.S., McIntyre signed a development contract with WWE, adopting the ring name Drew McIntyre. 

Initially, he worked in WWE’s developmental territories, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), before making a notable return to SmackDown in 2009. 

During this period, he earned the moniker “The Chosen One” and won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship alongside Cody Rhodes. 

Despite these accomplishments, he was later relegated to lower-card status and ultimately requested his release from WWE in 2014 due to creative frustrations.

Following his departure, McIntyre reinvented himself on the independent circuit, competing under his real name and returning to ICW where he reclaimed the ICW World Heavyweight Championship. 

His resurgence continued with a successful stint in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where he became a one-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion and Impact Grand Champion, as well as earning titles in Evolve.

In 2017, McIntyre returned to WWE, once again as Drew McIntyre. His second stint saw him achieve considerable success in NXT, where he won the NXT Championship.

Upon his return to WWE’s main roster, McIntyre captured the Raw Tag Team Championship with Dolph Ziggler and won the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble. 

He also secured two WWE Championships, with his first title win coming in the main event of WrestleMania 36 Night 2, and later claimed the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL Night 2. 

McIntyre’s achievements made him the first British and only Scottish world champion in WWE history and the 31st Triple Crown champion, cementing his legacy in professional wrestling.

Drew McIntyre Wife 

In July 2009, Drew McIntyre, then known as Andrew Galloway, became engaged to Taryn Terrell, a fellow professional wrestler. 

Both were working for WWE at the time, and their engagement was a notable event in the wrestling community. 

The couple married in a private ceremony in Las Vegas in May 2010. Unfortunately, their marriage was short-lived, and they divorced just a year later, in May 2011.

Following his divorce, Galloway’s personal life took a new turn when he met Kaitlyn Frohnapfel, a doctor, at a bar in 2013. 

Their relationship developed, and they were married on December 10, 2016. 

The couple currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Before settling in Nashville, they lived in Tampa, Florida, reflecting the various stages of Galloway’s career and personal life.
