Christopher Daniel Covell, born on March 24, 1970, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is widely recognized in the professional wrestling world under his ring name, Christopher Daniels. 

At a young age, Covell’s family relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina, a move that would significantly shape his future. 

In Fayetteville, he developed a deep passion for Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, an enthusiasm that laid the groundwork for his eventual career in wrestling.

After completing his studies at Methodist College with a degree in theater, Covell and his wife moved to Chicago, Illinois, with aspirations of pursuing a career in acting. 

However, his love for wrestling, combined with the exposure he gained from his early experiences, redirected his career path. 

In Chicago, he began training to become a professional wrestler, ultimately merging his theatrical background with his wrestling ambitions. 

This unique blend of skills contributed to his distinctive persona and success in the wrestling industry, where he has gained acclaim for his athleticism and storytelling prowess in the ring.

Christopher Daniels Wrestling Career

Christopher Daniels, a prominent figure in professional wrestling, began his career after training under veterans Sam DeCero, Mike Anthony, and Kevin Quinn. 

He made his debut in April 1993 with Windy City Pro Wrestling (WCPW), where he quickly made an impact by winning the WCPW Light Heavyweight Championship and later the WCPW Tag Team Championship with Kevin Quinn. 

His early successes paved the way for a diverse wrestling career that would span multiple continents and promotions.

Daniels expanded his horizons by wrestling in Puerto Rico for the World Wrestling Council (WWC), where he achieved significant success by winning the WWC World Tag Team Championship with Kevin Quinn as part of the team Overkill.

His tenure in WWC was short-lived, as they lost the titles a month later. Returning to Windy City, Daniels captured the WCPW Middleweight Championship but lost it shortly thereafter. 

His career continued to thrive on the independent circuit, including stints in the Empire Wrestling Federation where he won the EWF Heavyweight Championship.

The late 1990s saw Daniels venture into major wrestling promotions. In 1998, he teamed with Kevin Quinn to become the first NWA Midwest Tag Team Champions.

His involvement in the ECWA Super 8 Tournament saw him reach the finals, and his stint in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) was followed by a successful trip to Japan. 

There, Daniels created the masked persona Curry Man and competed in the Masked Man League, finishing third.

Daniels’ wrestling career continued to flourish as he won the British Commonwealth Junior Heavyweight Championship in Michinoku Pro Wrestling and the APW Worldwide Internet Championship in All Pro Wrestling. 

His accomplishments also included winning the 4th Annual ECWA Super 8 Tournament, APW’s King of the Indies tournament, and the WCPW League Championship.

In 1998, Daniels signed a developmental deal with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), training at Dory Funk Jr.’s Funkin’ Dojo. 

His WWF debut was marked by appearances as a jobber and later as one half of Los Conquistadores. 

Despite a promising start, his time with WWF was characterized by limited opportunities.

Daniels’ foray into World Championship Wrestling (WCW) included a tryout match in 2000, where he impressed but ultimately did not secure a long-term role.

Returning to the independent scene, he found success with various promotions, including Ring of Honor (ROH), where he made a notable impact by participating in the company’s inaugural show and engaging in memorable feuds.

His tenure with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) began in 2002, when he became known for his role as part of the stable Triple X alongside Low Ki and Elix Skipper. 

Daniels’ character evolved over time, including a memorable feud with Sting and a subsequent shift to a more comedic persona, Curry Man, which provided a stark contrast to his previous, more serious roles.

Daniels’ career also saw international success, including a notable appearance in Mexico’s AAA, where he was part of the La Legión Extranjera stable and competed for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
